About Badr Harqan

Badr Harqan

I believe fragrance is not a product, but a silent language — one that expresses identity, place, and memory.
The sincere trace that remains matters more than the pursuit of perfection.

Origins

I was raised in the old district of Manfouha in Riyadh, among mud houses that absorbed the scent of rain,
and wood that carried the warmth of Talh and Samar.
Life was simple, yet rich in details — details that shaped my earliest understanding of beauty.

My journey began with drawing.
I perceived colors the way one perceives scent,
and worked with light and shadow as if they were accords waiting to be composed.

The Shift to Fragrance

Over time, my curiosity moved toward scent.
I became fascinated by the possibility of translating emotion into fragrance,
and memory into something tangible — something carried in a bottle.

This pursuit led me to France in 2010,
where I studied perfumery, chemistry, and natural extraction techniques.
There, I learned that every raw material carries its own story —
and that true perfumery begins with understanding before blending.

Inspiration & Identity

For me, fragrance is a form of expression.
I draw inspiration from Saudi coffee,
from the scent of Talh wood after rain,
and from the quiet moment of oud burning in a Najdi home.

Each fragrance I create is a living memory —
a silent dialogue between past and present.

Practice

My work is an ongoing exploration of undiscovered scent territories —
of beauty hidden within imperfection,
and of balance between emotion and technique.

The most compelling fragrances are born from honesty,
experimentation,
and the courage to break convention.

Selected Milestones

Throughout my career, I have designed and developed projects that mark important chapters in my creative journey:

  • The Official Fragrance of SAUDIA Airlines

  • The Scent Identity of King Khalid International Airport – Riyadh

  • The Official Diriyah Fragrance for DGDA

  • The Scent Identity of The Ritz-Carlton Red Sea

These collaborations were not simply commissions,
but collective experiences aimed at translating the spirit of place into scent —
reflecting contemporary Saudi identity.

Today

Badr Harqan represents the continuation of this journey —
a bridge between craftsmanship and emotion,
between heritage and imagination.

Each composition is an attempt to redefine the relationship between memory and the senses,
between the individual and fragrance.

“I do not search for the perfect scent… I search for the honest trace that remains.”
